This beautiful carved wood Bao board is a traditional Tanzanian game.  The box itself is a lovely decorative piece, and the game will challenge the whole family.

The Bao game is related to the family of board games played around the world, sometimes called "sowing" games, or "count-and-capture" games, which describes the gameplay. While there are simpler versions that can be played on this board, the version played in parts of Tanzania is revered as the most intricate and complicated, steeped in strategy and technique.
